Blowing Rock Hospital:
Blowing Rock Hospital provides medical services such as emergency care, surgery, physical and respiratory therapy, and cardiac evaluation and rehabilitation. The hospital also offers the Adult Care Center for the senior citizens of Blowing Rock. Watauga Medical Center:
A mere six miles from downtown Blowing Rock, Watauga Medical Center provides a wide range of healthcare including, but not limited to: a 24-hour Emergency Room, Neurology clinic, various Surgery programs, Kidney Dialysis, Critical Care Center, Laser Surgery and Imaging, Cardiology, a full Laboratory, and the new Seby B. In addition to top of the line healthcare facilities, Blowing Rock is home to several different ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Blowing Rock Memorial Park offers use of tennis courts, a basketball court, a volleyball court, and a child’s playground. The Blowing Rock community pool is open to all Blowing Rock citizens and visitors for use. Hiking trails are in abundance in the area, and always a good choice for exercise and fun. Just off of the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway are several great trails for hiking, as well as great places for picnicking and spending an afternoon. Julian Price Park is the closest area with access to hiking trails, including the Boone Fork Trail. There is also a beautiful and easy 2.3 mile loop trail around Price Lake. Moses Cone Memorial Park & Craft Center offers over 25 miles of slow-sloping carriage trails. Bass Lake is a beautiful mountain lake with an easy 1.7 mile trail around it. Right in Blowing Rock you can find the Glen Burney trail, which is a 3 mile round-trip hike following a creek. All of these are great places to get plenty of fresh air and exercise.

Healthy food is also a main factor in maintaining a healthy lifestyle. In Boone, within 6 or 8 miles of downtown Blowing Rock, are three main health food stores: Bare Essentials Natural Market on Hwy. 321, Razzberry’s Natural Market on Hwy. 105, and Earth Fare on King Street near downtown Boone. These places offer a wide variety of organic foods and beverages.
